Step into the world of Kilts and Kente, a company on the brink of collapse after a series of high-stakes challenges. The ambitious development of a groundbreaking AI tool was meant to revolutionise the business analysis field, but cracks within the project team have thrown the entire initiative into turmoil.

 

As workshop attendees, you will become part of this unfolding drama, tasked with uncovering what went wrong and saving the company from disaster.

Your journey begins with Game 1, where you and your team will trace the final movements of the project manager, uncovering vital clues to locate a missing artifact.

 

With the artifact found, Game 2 challenges you to examine its flaws, uncover root causes, and propose solutions to put the project back on track.

 

Finally, in Game 3, collaboration gives way to strategy as you step into the roles of key project team members, defending their actions and exposing the mistakes of others in a high-stakes debate.

This immersive experience tests your ability to work as a team, think critically, and navigate complex interpersonal dynamics—all while engaging in a thrilling and unforgettable storyline.

Game 1: Locate the Body

Objective: work together to retrace Richard's final movements through the country manor. Each room unlocks a video clue, helping your team uncover the sequence of events leading to his mysterious demise. Using your best tools and techniques, collaborate to pinpoint where Richard received his final phone call and uncover a vital artifact.

Tools and Techniques: swim lanes, process maps, affinity diagrams, stakeholder analysis.

Competencies: 

  • Collaboration: work together to trace Richard’s final movements, sharing insights and solving clues as a unified team.

  • Communication: actively listen to video clues and your team members, while articulating your ideas clearly to help the team trace Richard’s movements.

  • Team Building: create a supportive and trusting environment where players feel confident sharing their thoughts and collaborating under pressure.
     

Targeted development:​ through the game, players will strengthen their ability to analyse stakeholder insights using affinity diagrams, swimlane and process maps, enhance collaboration, build trust, and hone essential communication skills.

Game 2: Examine the Evidence

Objective: with the body located and the artifact found, it’s time to investigate further. Work together to examine the document to identify its key problems and how it impacted the project. Use your analytical skills to discover the evidence, find the root causes, and develop a plan to fix the issues and get the project back on track.

Tools and Techniques: document analysis, root cause analysis, cause and effect diagram / fishbone diagram.

Competencies: 

  • Analytical thinking: decompose the evidence provided in the artifact, evaluate key details, and identify all points of failure.

  • Root cause analysis: review the points of failure identified within the artifact to determine their root cause and overall impact on the project.

  • Decision making: collaborate with your team to assess the root causes found and determine the best course of action to get the project back on track.
     

Targeted development:​​ players will enhance their ability to analyse complex information, evaluate root causes, and collaborate effectively on decision-making. This game sharpens critical thinking and equips players with practical strategies to address project challenges and implement solutions.

Game 3: Question the Suspects

Objective: step into the role of a project team member and gain exclusive insights into the project that only your persona could know. In this game, you are no longer working as a team—you’re on your own. Defend your persona’s actions and decisions based on the new information you have, while cross-examining other team members to expose their weaknesses and individual mistakes that may have caused the project to fail and led to Richard’s untimely death.

Tools and Techniques: persona analysis, role alignment, empathy maps.

Competencies: 

  • Negotiation and conflict resolutions: learn to manage disagreements effectively while defending your persona and navigating interpersonal conflicts.

  • Debate and persuasion thinking: improve your ability to present clear, compelling arguments that influence others and gain support for your persona’s perspective.

  • Confidence Building: develop self-assurance in adopting your persona and articulating ideas clearly under pressure.
     

Targeted development:​ unlike the previous games that focus on team collaboration, this game shifts the focus to individual strategy. Players will enhance their persuasive communication and negotiation skills, build confidence under pressure, and use persona analysis to navigate conflicts and uncover critical insights.
